Visiting Las Vegas
Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city for shopping, gambling and fine dining, also known as The Entertainment Capital of the World.
Las Vegas has become famous for the number of casino resorts and associated entertainment that it has to offer. The city earned the title of Sin City due to it’s tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment. The Las Vegas Strip is filled with outdoor lighting displays and the Las Vegas metropolitan area is the brightest on Earth as seen from space.
Geography
Las Vegas is surrounded by dry mountains, wildlife and desert vegetation because it is situated on the arid desert floor. Most of the landscape is rocky and dusty, as befits a desert. However, the city itself has a great deal of lawns, trees and other greenery.
Climate
{Las Vegas has an arid desert climate.} The city enjoys abundant sunshine year-round and has about an average of 300 sunshine days a year, with very little rainfall. The annual precipitation is around 110 mm and is not uncommon anytime of the year, although it mainly occurs during winter.
Summers
The summer months of June through September are very hot and mostly dry. Average summer daytime highs are between 34°C – 40°C and nighttime lows between 21°C and 26°C. Most days in July and August exceed 38 °C but with very low humidity, frequently under 10%.
Winters
Las Vegas’ winters are of short duration and the season is generally mild, with daytime highs near 16°C and nighttime lows around 4°C. The mountains surrounding Las Vegas accumulate snow during the winter but snow is rare in the Las Vegas Valley itself. Temperatures can sometimes drop to freezing 0°C.
Economy
A major part of the city economy is based on tourism, including gambling. The primary drivers of the city’s economy have been the confluence of gaming, tourism and conventions, which in turn feeds the dining and retail industries. Several companies involved in the manufacture of electronic gaming machines, such as slot machines, are located in the Las Vegas area.
Tourism
Casinos are the major attractions in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Strip, also known as Las Vegas Boulevard, is home to the most famous hotel casinos. Most of these hotels carry thousands of rooms with massive adjoining casino areas.

Shopping
The city has become a global shopping destination over the years. Las Vegas Boulevard South is more than just a playground – it’s one of the world’s great shopping streets.
Huge outlet malls vie with exclusive boutiques in exquisite casino resorts. On the Strip, shoppers will find everything from haute couture to traditional Vegas souvenirs – dice clocks and playing cards. Many resorts on the Strip have opened spectacular shopping areas featuring some of the world’s best brands and exclusive designers.
Gaming
Casino’s are open 24 hours a day and offer a great variety of games, from blackjack, roulette or poker. Sports betting is another game you can try if you are not into the table games. Slot machines is another way to keep yourself entertained if you are not a serious table-player.
