The city of Denver is a really cool urban epicenter consisting mostly of newer buildings and real estate developments – some of which literally went up overnight during the real estate boom that occurred in the earlier part of this decade. Like many cities, Denver indeed has its own nickname, dubbed the ‘Mile High City’ because it sits at an elevation that is roughly a mile above sea level. Many people travel to Denver to enjoy the Rocky Mountains and the numerous skiing and snow sport resorts that this city hosts. However, skiing aside, there is actually much to see and do when you are here. Denver Museum of Nature and Science
This is most definitely one of the hottest tourist destinations in the entire city and annually it attracts several million visitors. While not the largest science and nature museum in the country, it has been rated as one of the best, making it must-see when you are in this quant mountain city. Notable exhibits not to be missed include: Ramses II, the Egyptian mummies, North American Indians, and the Imperial Tombs of China.

Denver Zoo
Another staple to this awesome, newer city is the Denver Zoo. This zoo is unlike many other zoos that will find in the United States, making it easily a list-topper of spots you won’t want to miss when you travel to Denver. There are so many things to see here, make sure that you set aside an entire afternoon so you can get to see them all. Notable exhibits and attractions include: Tropical Discovery exhibit, Primate Panorama Exhibit, Bird World and African savanna and jungle exhibits.

Colorado State Capitol Building
This building is best known for the large, shiny dome that comprises its roof. But most tourists like to visit this capital building because of the breathtaking views that it offers of the entire city on the upper level observation decks. There are some parts of the building that you don’t want to miss, and it is highly recommended that you take a guided tour of this must-see attraction when in Denver.

Downtown Aquarium
This is a great place for families to stop on in and visit when touring this great city, and easily one of the top destinations in the city for visitors. This aquarium offers over five hundred different marine species for you to see. There are some pretty impressive sights for the eyes to behold in this 150,000 gallon aquarium, including a restaurant that is lined by the see-through walls of the actual aquarium itself. Also, don’t miss the Aquarium Adventure Exhibit.

Denver Botanic Gardens
Most major cities in the US host impressive botanical gardens. However, the ones that you will find in Denver are truly extraordinary, easily making this sight a must-see when here. There are so many exhibits here to see and tour, including thirty plus different gardens. To better help you out, here are some recommended sights not to be missed: Xeriscape Demo Garden, Rock Alpine Garden and the Winnie the Pooh garden.
