Beijing is a famous, beautiful and modern capital city. The historical Beijing has gone through over 1000 years, there are much stories and memories left with amazing architecture, artifacts. It could be the best place you can ever found in the world.
The quadrangle were the unique and traditional style house in Beijing. Those alleys and enclosed countyards in the city allow us the know more about ordinary people’s lifestyle and culture. The center part of the quadrangle is small yard that family member can play together and also used as a storage purpose. In the quadrangle, all the other rooms are not as nicely decorated as the room in the center. The center room usually kept for elderly, because it is cool in summer and warm in winter, but children will only have rights to choose the side rooms to live. Normally, women will settle in inner rooms, male servants and guests will be put in the outer room. As today the structure is still the same rites and traditional custom of ancient China.
The whole city filled with connected alleys. The most construction were built during the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties which can trace back about eight hundreds of years ago. When I walk around the small alley, I cannot stop to image that what ancient people to do here, who live here, what do they do and etc. It just seems like the history of China is before our eyes. Becasue, most tourists prefer the history of alley, thus alley tour are getting hotter and hotter in the last few years.
Their something very special in Bejing that you cannot miss, it is the Peking opera and teahouse. The national opera in China is Peking opera. The first play was in Qing Dynasty. The opera players dressed up in colorful customs, they also make up in bright color on the faces. According to the role personal characters, good people will make up red face, bad people is white. Even you don’t understand the show, you still able to have a bit clue of the story. Teahouse used to frequently visit by publications and bureaucrats for information during Qing Dynasties. Today, teahouses are still one of the most popular among the tourists and Beijing people too.
ancient Chinese are always mysterious, and modern Chinese has lost a lot of Chinese tradition, but the only thing which hasn’t been changed is the characters of their language, it is difficult, but it is intereting, learn Chinese is a long term progress, speak Chinese is really challenging.
