Disabled hotels are much more commonly used by thankfully, making the life or disabled people a great deal easier and meaning that they can integrate into society and go on holiday is just like anyone else can. In fact, being disabled is no longer as restrictive for many people as it used to be. There is no reason for example, why you have to restrict yourself not to going on holiday and the places you want in most cases.
These days, if you are a disabled traveler, there is absolutely no reason to think for 1 minute that you are totally restricted and unable to go on holiday and stay at an average hotel. Of course there are plenty of places in the world which do not have disabled facilities, but these are getting fewer and fewer all the time.
These days, there are many countries in the world which have strict legal requirements for hotels to offer various basic disabled facilities. In these sort of countries, you can be sure that you are going to have no problem, but if you are going to poorer countries with a less sophisticated infrastructure, then you are going to have to be more careful.
As stated before, most hotels in civilized countries these days have disabled facilities. Depending on what your requirements are, you should be able to find something suitable quite easily. In order to book your holiday and be comfortable that you have done the right thing, you need to be absolutely sure that all the facilities that you need are going to be there.
However, some countries where you go, it might be quite a different matter altogether. In general, places which have lots of tourists and have a good infrastructure to support them should not provide any problems for you, but obviously, you need to be sure before you book anything.
Use the Internet to find the best deals on hotels and to make sure that you are getting facilities that you want and need. Often the major booking sites (such as Orbitz, Hotels.com or Travelocity) use standardized icons which are easy to follow and tell you with just a few minor pictures what sort of facilities the hotel has.
There are many different sites to choose from and booking engines will often show you an overview of all the facilities that are certain hotel has. Just look out for the wheelchair icon and you will see that their support disabled persons. You can find much more information on the Internet about any specific hotel that you are thinking about staying in.
