Along the slopes of the west mountains, Wailuku is the home for the different government buildings of the county. It also has numerous historical churches, antique stores and agreeably old-fashioned restaurants that serve variety of Hawaiian dishes which is worth the wait.
One of the most popular places in Wailuku, Maui is the museum of Bailey House which is filled with elaborate artworks, artifacts and periodical furnishings. A roundtrip ticket will give you a better idea on the rich history. Here, you can find shops that feature books of the locals.
Wailuku is also considered as the portal to the Iao Valley. Iao Valley is one of the most sacred and enchanting places of the entire of Hawaii. Right in the center of Iao Valley is a stone pillar which rises 1,200 feet to the air. This pillar is known and is commonly called as the “Needle” which towers over the valley below.
Driving back to Wailuku from the Iao Valley, don’t forget to drop by the Heritage Gardens and the Kepaniwai Park which have several gardens and buildings that represent the different cultures of Hawaiian Island’s various groups of immigrants.
