New England is the best place to be come Thanksgiving,  if you’re looking for vacation ideas for the whole family, here are three perfect New England destinations to choose from.

Mount Washington Hotel, New Hampshire

Built in 1902 at White Mountain National Resort, the Mount Washington Hotel is immense in size, possessing almost 800,000 acres of land. It is also a national historical landmark and among its many amenities include a 900-foot veranda, scores of fireplaces to keep the entire resort toasty warm for the Thanksgiving season, indoor and outdoor pools, and various sports and recreational activities like fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, tennis, and golf.

Mount Washington Hotel also offers a wide selection of programs designed for family entertainment. The Family Rock-climbing School is a popular activity among its summer guests and for the winter, kids can join a Bretton Woods ski school or have indoor fun cooking with the chef.

For the Thanksgiving weekend, the Spanish Renaissance resort offers a special package for the holidays. Guests will be treated to an impressive itinerary of activities that include magic lantern shows, holiday craft workshops, gingerbread cookie decorating, storytelling with Santa, early season skiing, and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Naturally, no Thanksgiving vacation will be complete without the traditional dinner and in Mount Washington Hotel, guests are to dine in style and enjoy sumptuous food with the Grand Thanksgiving Family Feast Buffet. Although the weekend package already includes dinner, non-staying patrons may purchase tickets for the dinner.

John Carver Inn and Spa, Massachusetts

For Thanksgiving, take a nostalgic vacation with the hotel’s Passport to History Package. The special offer includes a two-night accommodation, ten-dollar dinner allowances for two at the hotel’s Hearth ‘n Kettle Restaurant, four full breakfasts, and admission to Mayflower II or Plimoth Plantation. Franconia Inn, New Hampshire

For an extended vacation, consider taking advantage of the Thanksgiving Retreat of Franconia Inn. It consists of a three night stay accompanied by full breakfast for each day, a Thanksgiving feast and two-post Thanksgiving gourmet dinners. Guests can travel to The Rocks Christmas Tree farm riding a horse-drawn wagon and to cap the weekend off, guests can go home – or have it shipped – with a 24” Balsam wreath and a 6’ – 8’ Balsam or Spruce Christmas tree.

The size of rooms in the inn varies, ranging from cozy to standard to spacious, but all equipped with private baths. As for the Kinsman Cottage located next to the inn, guests have a choice between the first and second floors. Both are air-conditioned and equipped with a TV and sleep sofa in the living room or sitting area. The loft or the second floor has a master bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen while the ground floor comes with a master and guest bedroom as well as a 2-person bubble tub.
