New England Coast Destinations – Romantic Getaways
At any time of the year, couples can look forward to a romantic getaway in New England. Besides its famous coastline, the historical and picturesque region also boasts of a beautiful natural landscape that’s sure to give visitors unforgettable memories. If you’re thinking of traveling to New England with your loved one, here are a couple of places you might want to check out.
Acadia, Maine
Walking hand in hand with your special someone would be even more special if you do so in the Acadia National Park, the 1st and only national park in New England. The breathtaking lakeshores, coastlines and surrounding mountains – which are accessible by the way – also make a perfect backdrop for your photographs.
In Acadia, you can watch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, hike for a bird’s eye view of a ford, and walk or drive along shores of lakes and ponds. While there, you should also drop by at the charming villages of Stonington and Castine as well as Bay Harbor.
Berkshires, Massachusetts
Scattered across the region is a wide range of inns and resorts, all lovely and exclusive and sure to fit whatever your budget is. Even better, some of them actually offers the opportunity to lodge in a historic stagecoach inn. Days in Berkshires are best spent exploring the lakes and mountains in the area while nights should be reserved for the variety of cultural diversions offered.
Cape Cod
No romantic getaway to New England is complete without a visit to Cape Cod. There, you and your partner can enjoy a quiet and very much secluded walk along white sand beaches. Nature walks through swamps, marshes, and kettle ponds and bike paths as well as various historical sites are available to those wishing for a more vigorous and diverse trip. A visit to the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, both of which have been featured in movies and magazine shoots for countless times because of its timeless beauty.
White Mountains of New Hampshire
This area has arguably one of the most dramatic and vivid natural landscapes in New England. Couples will undoubtedly feel surreal amidst the gloriously immense woods in the White Mountain National Forest. If you appreciate the charms of a simple life, you should try staying in any of the numerous inns and lodgings located in the mountain villages. While there, do consider visiting Mount Washington as well as the Presidential Range.
The Wentworth in Jackson, New Hampshire
There’s an enormous difference between infatuation and love. If the feelings you have for each other are deep and mature, you should take the time in choosing a romantic getaway that perfectly mirrors your feelings. In that case, there’s no better choice than The Wentworth in New Hampshire.
Considered a “baby grand” hotel, The Wentworth offers more than twenty rooms furnished with romantic sleigh or four-poster beds, cozy sitting areas equipped with modern entertainment system, Oriental rugs, and hardwood floors, and warmed by switch-controlled gas fireplaces. Your room may also come with either an in-room whirlpool tub or a private balcony with a hot tub good for sharing.
If you choose to leave the enchanting confines of your room or cottage, you and your partner will not suffer from any inadequacies in your pursuit for entertainment: you can shop around the North Conway, drive a scenic route along Kancamagus Highway, play a relaxing game of gold in the Wentworth’s 18-hole and PGA-rated golf course, or enjoy a leisurely swim in its outdoor heated pool. For sports-loving couples, the area also offers ice skating, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, canoeing, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and clay tennis courts.
