  1. For Alberta, for a week-long trip or more, I’d recommend a sidetrip from Jasper National Park to Banff National Park, its neighbor on the southern border. And if staying in Banff, a sidetrip to Calgary is possible.

FYI, here’s an article about taking kids to Jasper National Park:

  2. Actually Toronto’s Wonderland is nothing like Disneyland, it is more like a Six Flags. Just a bunch of weakly themed run-of-the-mill rides set up in a highly congested sea of asphalt. Long lines & very poor service are Wonderland trademarks - as in it is a wonder that they have so many visitors. If heading to Toronto, Ontario Place is a much more family-friendly and less stressful adventure.

Ottawa has much more than Winterlude to offer - there is also Bluesfest rated as one of the top ten music festivals in North America by Rolling Stone magazine, Jazzfest that hosts internationally renowned musicians, the world-class Tulip Festival, and don’t forget all of the great daytrips to small communities in the “Ottawa Valley”.

The top fish that anglers travel to Canada for are muskie, walleye, lake trout and northern pike. The guides in Canada fishing camps and at some lodges recommend Vanish test line for leaders because sometimes the braided lines will startle the fish and you will not catch many fish. If you are fishing for muskies, you want to have at least a fifty-pound test line. If you plan to fish for pike, you want to use thirty pound test line. For smallmouth you would use about a ten pound test line.  […]
