Among the multiple islands that Hawaii has, Maui is considered as the seventeenth largest island within the vicinity of the United States. It is the also the 2nd largest island included in the Hawaiian islands with about 727.2 sq. miles. Maui is affiliated with the state of Hawaii. Maui belongs to Maui County which also has there other islands along it namely: Kahoolawe, Molokai and Lanai. The four islands combined together will bring you Maui Nui.

History of Maui, Hawaii

Originally, the Polynesians were the ones who populated Maui. They came from the Marquesas and the Tahiti. The core of the culture of Hawaii came from the kapu system which was introduced by the Tahitians. The kapu system was a social system that strictly affected the entire aspects of life of the people of Hawaii.

During the mid-1700s, a modern history for Hawaii was paved. It was the time of the Battle of Kepaniwai when King Kamehameha I resided and made his mark in the place of Lahaina after conquering Maui in the year 1790.

Stop at Maui’s Tropical Plantation where you will feast your eyes on a 60-acre wide variety of fruit plantation. Here, you will have the chance to enjoy Maui’s rich agricultural nature, history and some free samples of fresh natural fruits harvested in ideal conditions. You will also be delighted with the different kinds of plants, flowers and trees that are unique and not found in any kind of plantation. If you are a fruit lover, then this is the spot for you. Visit Kahului and Wailuku While in Maui

Kahului, Maui, Hawaii’s largest town resides within the depths of Central Maui that is bordered by the mountains at the west and the Haleakala at the east. It is the home for the Kahului Airport and is known to accommodate visitors arriving in Maui. However, the vast majority of tourists don’t stick around to see the beauty in that area. They either go to the resorts of Kihei Coast or West Maui. They usually don’t go to central Maui again nless they wanted to head back home.
